Sojourn Montrose Church believes that all members are responsible for the work of ministry: making disciples of Jesus. That said, we have a lean staff and robust leadership system for called and confirmed men and women to serve the church in particular areas of need.

REID SQUIRES
LEAD PASTOR
Reid grew up surfing in coastal North Carolina, but has called Texas home since 2011. He earned a BA from UNC-Wilmington, an MA in Public Administration from Texas A&M, and an MA in Biblical Studies from Reformed Theological Seminary. His wife Micah have been married since 2015 and have 3 children, Magnolia, Jude Warren, and Bear. He loves New York style pizza, coffee, fly fishing and movies.
LIZ TORTI
DIRECTOR OF ELEMENTARY DISCIPLESHIP
Liz was born in Tennessee, but has lived in Texas for most of her life. She studied education at Stephen F. Austin State University, and after spending a few years in India, she earned an MA in Biblical Counseling at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. She met her husband, Bill, at Sojourn almost a decade ago, and they have three kiddos— Graham, Asa, and Sloane. Liz loves traveling to new places, camping with her family, and finding all of the amazing Indian food that Houston has to offer!

TRAVIS THOMPSON
DIRECTOR OF WORSHIP
Travis was born and raised in Houston TX, which makes him a proud owner of a 713 area code. He went to Texas A&M, where he met his wife Amanda and recieved a bachelors in Mechanical Engineering. They have 2 awesome little dudes named Beau and Micah and have called Montrose home for 10 years now! Travis loves playing with his boys, producing music, pickup sports, the occasional video game, and a good beef fajita.
CAITLYN WOOLSEY
DIRECTOR OF OPERAITONS.
Caitlyn grew up a military kid, living worldwide but always a Texan at heart! She earned an MA in Physician Assistant Studies from Texas A&M and cared for cancer patients seven years before joining Sojourn in 2022. She and her husband Tim have been married since 2015 and cherish their two-year-old daughter, Lydia. She loves Houston Restaurants (Toasted Coconut & Candente), weightlifting, and running.

CATIE SMITH
DIRECTOR OF EARLY CHILDHOOD DISCIPLESHIP
Catie was born and raised in North Carolina. She studied at Pfeiffer University and earned an MA in Intercultural Studies from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. For ten years before joining Sojourn, she served in ministry as Director of Young Adults, Director of Discipleship, and recently Director of Marriage and Parenting Ministries. She’s married to Joshua, and they’re raising three kids—Eliana, Solomon, and Elora. She loves hiking, getting lost in a good book, and savoring quiet moments.
JOSHUA SMITH
MINISTRY RESIDENT
Joshua serves on the Religion Faculty at Episcopal High School in Houston. He earned his Ph.D. in 2024 from Rice University, focusing on ethics, moral psychology, and philosophy of emotion, and has degrees from Boyce College, Southeaster Baptist Theological Seminary, and the University of Houston. He previously directed content at TrueWorks, a faith-and-work nonprofit. He and his wife, Catie, have three children: Eliana, Solomon, and Elora, and one on the way. Josh loves movies, especially blockbusters!

Sojourn Montrose is an Elder-led Congregation. This means, the congregation is served and shepherded by a plurality of men who meet the qualifications outlined in 1 Timothy 3:1-7.

Our Deacons
In addition to Elders and staff, deacons serve the church as leaders. Deacons meet the qualifications outlined in 1 Timothy 3:8-13. Sojourn Montrose has a robust diaconate. We have divided the deacons into four spheres of responsibility to clearly define how and where they serve the church.

The Deacons of Discipleship serve the church by organizing and leading classes, liturgy, and formation initiatives. They serve over worship, formation, and life-stage guidance.

Deacons of Mercy organize and distribute church resources to bless our people, our neighbors, and the world.
Deacons of Mercy serve the church by praying for the suffering, meeting tangible needs, and resourcing the mission of the church global. They serve over benevolence, prayer, outreach, and missions.
