For Children ages 1-5
(Infants under 1 remain in the worship service. Upon entering Kindergarten, kids transition to Kids’ Sunday School.)

The Kids’ Gathering takes place every Sunday during the sermon. During this time, children engage in hands-on activities that help them experience the gospel story and discover God’s love for them. Our background-checked teachers create a safe environment, teach a simple gospel-centered curriculum, and partner with parents in the discipleship of their children.

2025–2026 Curriculum
This year, we’re walking through The Beginner's Gospel Story Bible—an age-appropriate, interactive resource that connects every story in Scripture back to Jesus. Each Kids Gathering includes:

  • A fun movement activity to introduce the Bible story

  • A Bible story and age-appropriate discussion

  • Snack time

  • Worship through singing a Bible verse of the month

  • Learning from The New City Catechism (through song)

  • Craft time

  • Free play

We are honored to create a space where kids can learn, grow, and experience the joy of following Jesus together. We hope that Sunday mornings help lay a foundation of faith that will grow with them for years to come.

Elementary Sunday School at Sojourn Montrose
(Kindergarten-5th grade)

Each week at 9:00 am, our elementary kids gather for more intentional biblical curriculum. Parents are free to drop off beginning at 8:55, and are free to read in the sanctuary, sit outside, or visit a nearby coffee shop while Sunday School takes place. Pickup is at 9:45, right before our Sunday Gathering. Children who are of the age to attend Sunday School also attend the entire Sunday Gathering with their parents. We give activity kits to keep them busy during the sermon (but also listening!).

2025–2026 Curriculum
This year, we’re diving into the New City Catechism. We chose to build a curriculum around these questions and answers to help our kids build a strong foundation of biblical truths while equipping parents to take a leading role in discipleship by using the tools found in the New City Catechism app. Alongside The New City Catechism, we’re reading chronologically from The Biggest Story Bible Storybook to see the story of redemption unfold from Genesis to Revelation.
